Search Engine Marketing - Paul Ryan Edition

Mere hours after word leaked that Mitt Romney picked Rep. Paul Ryan to be his running mate, both the Romney campaign and the Obama campaign put up dueling search ads on anyone who searched for "Paul Ryan."

The speed at which both campaigns responded to the announcement shows how important search engine marketing has become. As the paid part of Google takes up more and more of the search screen,  paying for search becomes vital to get awareness. There is nothing worse than if an opponent advertises on your name, and even if you have better content, more eyeballs look at the opponent's ad.
